BlitzVTT: Free Virtual Tabletop in Your Browser (No Account)
A free virtual tabletop that runs in your browser. No account, no install, no subscription. Share a short code, your players type it in, and you're at the table: maps with square or hex grids, tokens, fog of war, 3D physics dice and a session log, for D&D, Pathfinder or any homebrew system. Everything runs peer-to-peer between your players' browsers and stays on your own device. ▶ Launch BlitzVTT
Supported rule systems: Any (system agnostic)
Website: blitzvtt.com
BlitzVTT is a peer-to-peer virtual tabletop that runs entirely in the browser. No accounts, no installs, no server holding your game: players connect straight to the GM's browser. The GM shares a short code, players type it in, and everyone is at the table. That's the entire "server setup" chapter. Campaigns, maps, and tokens are stored locally on your own device, never uploaded anywhere.
Features
- Scenes: prep encounters in private, switch the whole table with a click.
- Maps: square and hex grids, your own background images, loadable map packs.
- Tokens: your own art or plain circles, token packs, resizable, lockable, movement animated along waypoint paths.
- Fog of war: hidden means hidden. A fogged token is never sent to players' browsers at all, so even a curious player digging through their own client finds no monsters.
- Dice: a 3D roller with real physics, the result read from how the dice land.
- Spotlight: a pointer for drawing attention on the map.
- Session log: chat, rolls, and an automatic table history; hover a move to see its path on the map.
- Campaigns: save the whole campaign, images included, as a single file.
Why you might like it
- Zero friction: no login, no install, share a code and play.
- Private by design: your game runs directly between players. The handshake goes through public relays (Nostr), end-to-end encrypted; the relays store nothing.
- System agnostic: run any rules, homebrew included.
- Truly free: every feature included. Actually free, not "free until we need a yacht".
What it doesn't do (yet)
- No rules automation, character sheets, or initiative tracker.
- No built-in audio, voice, or video chat.
- No always-on world: the GM hosts the session live, and closing the GM's tab ends it.
- No company behind it, no support guarantees. A private, non-commercial project.
Found a rough edge? The feedback button in the app goes straight to the person who wrote the code.
